sampleNQ failed breakdown, reclaim in play
Aug 19, 2026 · 3 min
The setup
NQ ran the overnight low into the open, printed a brief single-print excursion below it, then reclaimed the level inside ten minutes on expanding volume. That’s the signature of a failed breakdown — a level that looked like support giving way and immediately snapping back.
Sweep, fail, reclaim — under ten minutes. When the market can’t hold a breakdown, the next move is usually the other direction.
The reclaim printed back above the prior day’s value area low, which puts price back inside balance rather than trending below it. That shifts the read from breakdown-continuation to liquidity-grab-and-reverse.
NQ 5m — overnight low sweep and reclaim
// generated visual lands here
Target zone is the untested high-volume node just under yesterday’s point of control, roughly two-thirds of the way back into the prior range. Invalidation is a close back below the swept low — if that level gives up cleanly, the failed-breakdown read is off the table.
Risk
Sized for a level-to-level trade, not a trend trade. This is a structure read on a single swept level, not a change in the broader posture — treat it accordingly.
